Outline

Within the global kakenhi budget, the JSPS newly created a line specifically for international collaborative projects. Under this budget, JSPS will fund different initiatives

What is funded

- Strengthening international joint research: research stays abroad of 6 to 12 months for Japanese grantees of Kakenhi (maximum JPY 12 million per project - EUR 90,000), to perform research on joint projects;

- Support of international activities: support of new cooperative projects in frontier or innovative areas (maximum JPY 15 million per project and per year - EUR 110,000);

- Relocation research grant: funds research costs of Japanese researchers currently affiliated with an overseas research institution upon their expected return to Japan (maximum JPY 50 million per project, for a period of 3 years - EUR 370,000).
