The Circuits and Systems Research Centre (CSRC: www.csrc.ie) at the University of Limerick, Ireland is a partner in the SFI CONNECT centre (www.connectcentre.ie) for Networks/Internet of Things and has a funded vacancy for a Post Doctoral researcher. The CSRC is a leading centre for electronics research with activities in digital signal processing, mixed-signal circuit design, and machine-learning. The team is involved in a number of projects collaborating with industrial and research partners to develop innovative solutions in a variety of applications areas.

Role and Responsibilities:

In this role, the researcher will be responsible for the development and circuit implementation of algorithms to improve the performance of high-speed D/A converters. The candidate will carry out research on the topic of advanced signal processing and must have good experience and knowledge of implementing high-speed digital circuit designs.  The candidate must be capable of implementing the developed algorithm on a FPGA platform or suitable digital ASIC processes.

Specific responsibilities:

  • Signal processing and advanced digital filter design using MATLAB/Simulink.

  • Signal processing implementation using FPGA or digital standard cell technology.

  • Interface with other mixed-signal IC researchers.

  • Write technical reports and journal/conference publications.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

A relevant PhD or equivalent experience with a VLSI background is necessary. The candidate will also meet the following requirements;

  • Strong background in digital circuit design and signal processing.

  • Working knowledge of MATLAB/Simulink and modelling tools.

  • Proficient use of Verilog RTL hardware design and simulation.

  • Excellent communication skills.

Preferred Skills:

Strong consideration will be given to candidates that also meet the following requirements;

  • Relevant industrial or research expertise in the area of high-speed digital circuit design.

  • Evidence of research publications relevant to this area of research.

Funding Notes:

Contract Type: Specific Purpose

Salaray Scale: €37,874 - €49,048 p.a. pro rata.
