The Director of the Institute of High Pressure Physics, Polish Academy of Sciences, is seeking for a researcher for the position of Adiunkt (equivalent to Assistant Professor) in Laboratory of Plastic Deformation Under High Pressure (NL1).

 

The research investigations provided in Laboratory of Plastic Deformation Under High Pressure:

  1. The use of high-pressure techniques for the production of severe plastic deformation (SPD) metals with ultra-grain and nanometric structures.
  2. Research of the structural, mechanical, physical and functional properties of manufactured materials.
  3. Construction of research equipment and apparatus for SPD processes, including hydrostatic extrusion (HE) and equal channel angular pressing (ECAP).
  4. Mathematical modeling including analysis of the design of HE and ECAP devices and the processes of severe plastic deformation by both methods.
  5. Research for obtaining new grants in the fields of Laboratory.

  3. A copy of the PhD diploma or equivalent.
  4. List of scientific publications.
  5. Summary of professional achievements, containing concise information about the scientific interests and achievements of the Candidate; including information about participation in larger research projects related to the above mentioned issues of nanotechnology applications in medicine and veterinary medicine, as well as presentation of own research plans (up to 3500 characters in total).
  6. Two recommendation letters in Polish or English from scientists - specialists in a given field, practiced by the Candidate.
  7. Candidate’s statement that in case of winning the competition for the position, the Institute of High Pressure Physics PAS will be their primary employment place.

Additional comments

During the competition procedure, Candidates may be asked to publicly present the results of their scientific work in the form of a seminar delivered at the Institute of High Pressure Physics, Polish Academy of Sciences.

Selection process will be done after carefully examination of documents. All candidates will be informed about results of job application as well as all necessary steps will be taken in order to treat all candidates equally, not later than on 16 December 2019.

The employment will take place on the basis of a permanent contract.

Skills/Qualifications

Requirements for the candidates:

  1. PhD in technical sciences or physics.
  2. Experience in the design and use of high-pressure research and industrial apparatus and devices, in particular presses for the hydrostatic extrusion process and presses for the equal channel angular pressing.
  3. Knowledge of Ansys and Solid Works software and the ability to use them to analyze severe plastic deformation processes using HE and ECAP methods..
  4. Knowledge of physical issues related to plastic deformation with severe plastic deformations under high pressure.
  5. Interpretation of microstructural research, including scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction.
  6. Knowledge of the possibilities of using ultra-fine materials and nanometric materials obtained in SPD processes: both existing and currently developed.
  7. Research achievements documented by at least 10 publications in the field of SPD processes from part A of the list of scientific journals of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.
  8. Readiness to work in the NL-1 Laboratory in two locations:
