Medical University of Gdańsk announces a selection procedure for the position of: 

Assistant - Project role: Support Staff/Junior Researcher

In connection with the implementation of a research project financed by the Polish Science Fund under the Virtual Research Institute program No. UoF/03-WIB-3/2023-003 entitled: ‘Endothelial diagnostics in anticancer treatment; towards modern vasculo-oncology’ [acronym: ADEVASCO (Aptamer-Based Diagnosis of Endothelium in Vasculooncology)].

TASKS OF THE PERSON EMPLOYED IN THIS POSITION WILL INCLUDE:

• planning and supervision of conducted experiments,

• interpretation of obtained results,

• editing of manuscripts, research reports and periodic reports,

• performing advanced laboratory work using GC-MS and LC-MS,

• application of experimental planning methods in developing sample preparation methods and methods for determining analytes.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

• higher education (pharmacy, medical analytics or related),

• experience in working with biological material,

• knowledge of separation techniques and detection methods such as UV, DAD, MS,

• knowledge of statistical methods used for multidimensional data,

• intermediate level of spoken and written English,

• ability to work in a team and complete assigned duties on time.

In accordance with the ADEVASCO Research Team Financing Agreement, a Member of the Research Team is obliged to:

• maintain confidentiality regarding information obtained in the course of conducting the Research Task, in particular the Intellectual Property;

• prohibition of conducting any professional activity in excess of the total monthly limit of 276 (two hundred seventy-six) clock hours for all professional activities and a declaration regarding compliance with this condition at each request of the Managing Entity;

• prohibition of conducting any competitive activity directly or indirectly related to the Research Task, within the framework of which the Intellectual Property is or may be disclosed or used, or activity which (or the result of which) makes it difficult or impossible (or, reasonably assessed, would make it difficult or impossible) to ensure effective protection or commercialization of the Intellectual Property. Indirect competitive activity is in particular considered to include: conducting business by an entity in which a Member of the Research Team is a partner, shareholder, stockholder, board member or member of other management, advisory or control/supervisory bodies, as well as by an entity that a Member of the Research Team actually manages, despite not having the status of a partner, shareholder, stockholder, board member or member of another management, advisory or control/supervisory body;

• transfer of Intellectual Property to the broadest extent possible under the provisions of law to the Medical University of Gdańsk, in such a way that the Project Leader can ultimately transfer the Intellectual Property to the State Treasury - the minister responsible for higher education and science;

• cooperation in applying for the protection of Intellectual Property or Commercialization of Intellectual Property, not exercising personal copyrights and authorizing each owner of property copyrights to Intellectual Property to exercise them, including in particular the State Treasury - the minister responsible for higher education and science;

• compliance with the Agreement, all WIB documentation and the principles contained therein, in particular to perform the obligations imposed on the Team Members by such documentation;

• signing and submitting to the Managing Entity the Declaration of the Member of the Research Team, according to the attached template.
