Offer Description
Summary: There is an open call for two (2) Research Scholarship (“Bolsa de Investigação”) at Instituto de Telecomunicações, in the scope of project inMotion.This work is supported by the European Regional Development Fund (FEDER), through the Regional Operational Programme of Centre (CENTRO 2030) of the Portugal 2030 framework [Project inMotion with Nr. 21359 (CENTRO2030-FEDER-02225900)].
Scientific Area: Signal Analysis and Processing
Group: Telecommunications and Networking – Av
Work Objectives: Scholarship to work on the project inMotion, exploring ML methods to develop a platform capable of predicting mobility patterns in public transportation.
Place of work: The work will be developed at the premises of Instituto de Telecomunicações at University of Aveiro, under the supervision of Prof. Mário Luís Pinto Antunes.
Duration: 6 months, with the possibility of renewal. This type of scholarship has a maximum duration of 2 years. Start date: august 2025 or soon thereafter.

Specific Requirements
Research grants (BI):
- Are intended for carrying out R&D activities by students enrolled in an integrated master's or a master's degree, aiming to consolidate their scientific training through the development of research work leading to the respective academic degree, whether or not integrated into R&D projects.
- Are intended for carrying out R&D activities by graduates enrolled in non-degree courses that are part of the educational programme of a higher education institution, developed in association or cooperation with one or more R&D units.
Candidates must be enrolled in a course not conferring a degree or in a master program in informatics and should possess the following profile: - Basic knowledge in the field of AI/ML. - Proficiency in programming (ideally Python) and familiarity with ML libraries. - Basic understanding of IoT concepts. - Good written and verbal communication skills. - An interest in AI/ML for IoT applications.

Benefits
Monthly salary: 1040.98€ according to the table of grant amounts awarded directly by FCT for positions held in Portugal (www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores ). The payment will be made by bank transfer.

The candidate with the highest final score will be selected.
