Offer Description
The University of Tartu invites applications for a strategic liaison to guide the commercial and international development of the TeamPerMed Center of Personalized Medicine.
This is a non-traditional, high-level engagement designed for an experienced professional. The position is structured to provide deep integration into the European personalized medicine ecosystem. Its primary value lies in direct access to foundational health data, institutional networks, and the significant opportunities for future leadership roles that will emerge from this work.

TeamPerMed is a multidisciplinary collaboration between the University of Tartu, Tartu University Hospital, the University of Helsinki, Erasmus University Rotterdam, and Erasmus University Medical Center, established through the EU Widening program. Our objective is to utilize the Estonian Biobank (200,000+ genomes) and a leading digital health infrastructure to develop the next generation of validated personalized medicine tools.
Work assignments
The selected individual will be responsible for the architecture and execution of the Center's commercial strategy. This involves translating our unique scientific and data assets into tangible medical products and sustainable international partnerships.
Core responsibilities include:
- developing the Center's long-term commercial strategy, business plan, and financial roadmap;
- establishing and maintaining high-level partnerships with relevant medical technology, pharmaceutical, and payer organizations, with a focus on the Baltic-Nordic region;
- informing the regulatory pathway for our innovations (in line with EU MDR, CDS);
- structuring and overseeing diverse commercialization routes, including new venture creation, technology licensing, and contracted trials;
- contributing to international grant proposals and cultivating key investor relations;
- representing TeamPerMed in relevant discussions with ministries, funding bodies, and at key scientific and industry conferences.
Education
Bachelor's degree in science, engineering and/or technology, life sciences. Advanced degree (MSc/PhD) in life sciences, health economics, or a related discipline or an MBA is considered an advantage.
Work experience
- A substantial track record in business development, venture creation, or strategic leadership within deep tech, life sciences, or digital health sectors.
- Demonstrable expertise in the commercialization pathways for health data, genomic data, or AI-driven medical technologies.
- Professional networks and experience in the Baltic-Nordic region.
Language skills
Fluency in English is required. Proficiency in Estonian or another Nordic language is a plus.

Additional information
A one-year employment contract that can be renewed annually. Fixed-term contract is tied to the duration of the project.
