Offer Description
DATE OF PUBLICATION 16.06.2026
Project Description
Biomacromolecules in biological cells move chaotically, driven by countless collisions with solvent molecules. Multiple experiments have shown that this motion, although sharing the same mechanism as the movement of particles suspended in pure water, deviates from simple models.
The main goal of this project is to understand the microscopic mechanism causing deviations from the classic Stokes-Einstein relation in crowded environments and their observed cancellation in vivo. Uncovering this physics is essential for accurately predicting the rates of diffusion-limited reactions in cells, with direct implications for drug delivery and cellular biophysics.
Methodology & Key Tasks
To tackle this challenge, the project employs a rigorous, bottom-up multiscale modeling approach that bridges two regimes:
- All-Atom Molecular Dynamics (MD): Simulating explicit water and biomacromolecules to capture high-resolution dynamics.
- Coarse-Grained (CG) Modeling: Developing computationally efficient and easily interpretable models derived directly from our all-atom MD datasets.
As a Postdoctoral Researcher, you will be responsible for running large-scale all-atom molecular dynamics simulations, implementing bottom-up coarse-graining methodology, and analyzing obtained results.
Academic environment:
You will join a dynamic, growing research team at University of Warsaw, offering a highly collaborative international environment. The position provides access to state-of-the-art computational infrastructure.
The candidates have to conform to the conditions stated in art. 113 of Higher Education Law dated 20.07.2018. (Journal of Laws of the Republic of Poland 2024, item 1571 with further amendments).
