EMERALD: supporting collaboration between Polish scientists and EMBL

EMERALD programme

The EMERALD programme (European Molecular Biology Laboratory and Nencki Research Alliance for Life Discoveries) aims to strengthen collaboration between the Polish life science community and EMBL - one of Europe’s leading research institutions. The programme supports new scientific connections and helps increase the participation of Polish researchers in international projects in molecular biology and biomedical sciences.

EMERALD is open to all research institutions in Poland and to researchers at every career stage, from PhD students to experienced scientists.

What funding is available?

The programme supports collaboration with all six EMBL sites: Heidelberg, Barcelona, Grenoble, Hamburg, Hinxton and Rome. Funding is provided as reimbursement and may cover costs such as travel, accommodation, conference fees and access to research infrastructure.

Funding is available for:

● visits to EMBL, including research stays, access to infrastructure, courses and EMBO/EMBL conferences – up to EUR 1,500,
● inviting EMBL scientists to Poland – up to EUR 1,500,
● organising scientific events involving EMBL scientists – up to PLN 50,000.

Application process

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis and may be submitted by the end of each month.

Applications should be submitted as a single PDF file and include:

● a description of the planned activity or project,
● justification and expected outcomes,
● CV and scientific achievements,
● budget,
● confirmation from EMBL in the case of visits to EMBL.
