Offer Description

Action 2.1 - Holographic Encoding: Investigation and implementation of two strategies for holographically encoding the Ising model, aiming to encode arbitrary interaction values. A holistic approach will be followed, where theoretical exploration and experimental implementation will mutually reinforce each other, with the ultimate goal of determining the optimal parameter ranges that characterize the system. Action 3.1 - Noise Reduction in the Photonic Simulator: Upgrading the Ising simulator to operate in the quantum regime requires minimizing various noise sources introduced into the system due to optical components and optoelectronic devices, to prevent disruption of single-photon states. To achieve this objective, advanced techniques will be employed with the aim of: 1. Minimizing laser-induced noise, 2. Correcting phase inhomogeneity caused by optical elements using holographic techniques, and 3. Improving the generation rate of gated heralded quantum states. Additionally, the experimental setup will be enhanced by coupling quantum states into a single-mode fiber, the light of which will be directed to the spatial light modulator, reducing losses due to intervening optical elements. Finally, in the detection aspect, specialized cameras will be used, enabling the detection of single-photon states and the simultaneous recording of multiple photons. Action 3.2 - Demonstration of Operational Principle: Integration and synthesis of all technological and scientific findings to ensure the successful operation of the spatial photonic Ising simulator using quantum photonic states. The machine’s performance will be characterized in terms of the additional capabilities arising from the quantum nature of light, compared to its classical counterpart. The successful demonstration of its operational principle will result in the first internationally recognized holographic quantum Ising simulator.
