Work tasks
The research for this position will be within the research profile GRACE which focus on circular and sustainable product and production development, funded by the Swedish Knowledge Foundation. In this position, you will belong to a research group with six senior researchers and several PhD students. The research focuses on managing data and information essential to the engineering process, ensuring it is current and usable for informed decision-making in circular economy contexts. The research group studies how technology impacts organizations using mixed methods—both qualitative approaches like interviews and workshops, and experimental work involving the development and evaluation of prototype systems. The current position has been planned for modelling sustainability and circularity in complex aerospace systems. Via Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) we think that it would be possible to successfully predict the effects of proposed design changes on circularity and sustainability. It will be your task to investigate if this is a fruitful idea, develop it, and practically show how it can be done by building a demonstrator system.
As a postdoc, you will be expected to conduct high-quality research (80%), provide support supervising PhD-students and be a part of the research team. Your work includes teaching or other departmental duties, up to a maximum of 20% of full-time.
Qualifications
We invite applications from outstanding researchers with the following qualifications:
- a doctoral degree (not older than three years) in any field relevant to project, i.e., machine design, product and production development, mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, or equivalent.

- fluent in spoken and written English.
- proficiency with mechanical CAD and automation in CAD systems, using, for example, Visual Basic for Applications (VBA)
- experience from systematic literature reviews.
- Good knowledge and experience in scientific methods, preferably multi-method approaches
It is meritorious if you have experience in:
- Knowledge of the Swedish language
- Teaching experience in the topic of the position
- Experience of data-driven methods and AI
- Experience from research projects performed in collaborative, multi-disciplinary teams.
